ASTROLOGY ARTICLES BY JON A LOOK AT BARACK OBAMA'S ASTROLOGYIt is the wee hours of the morning on March 5th as I write these words and it is now confirmed that John McCain has enough delegates to win the Republican nomination and on the Democrat's side Hillary Clinton has won the states of Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island giving her new life. I intentionally wanted to wait and see how Hillary did in the March 4th Primaries before I finished writing part 2. It appears she has survived and will fight on!! Transiting Jupiter (reward and expansion) is at 16 Capricorn today opposite McCain's Midheaven (career and public status) suggesting a time of success and recognition. It should also be noted that transiting Jupiter will be at this same position (17 Capricorn) on Election Day November 4th, just giving you a little something to think about. Jupiter was also making a nice sextile to Hillary's Venus today, though this is certainly not a strong indicator of a political victory it can and usually does make for a pleasant couple of days. I'm going to use the 1:06 pm birth time for Barack Obama. His birth time has not been confirmed, but this is the most widely used time. It seems to fit pretty well, so we'll use it in this article. This gives him Scorpio Rising (like Hillary) which suggests a secretive, but very intense and powerful even hypnotic presence, they both have this in common. The sign on the 10th house (the Midheaven) cusp describes one's career or public face; it describes how one is seen by the world at large from a distance. Barack Obama's 10th house sign is very different from Hillary Clinton's. Hillary has Virgo (mutable earth) the sign of discrimination and perfection on her 10th house and Obama has Leo (fixed fire) the sign of dramatic self expression on his. From a distance Obama appears to be a shining star (Leo positive) and Hillary appears uptight and persnickety (Virgo negatives). Like Hillary, Obama also has the majority of the planets above the horizon suggesting a life swept along by the events of his time. We also see that the transpersonal planets Uranus (revolution) and Pluto (transformation) are in his 10th house of career along with the North Node (future growth). This man must have a powerful career; he needs to change the world in some (big or small) way, it is a big part of his destiny (10th house). Barack Obama has a Leo-Gemini, Sun-Moon blend suggesting that his vital energy (his Sun) is directed towards being recognized and appreciated as someone special (Sun in Leo) combines with his reigning need (his Moon) for diversification, communication and information (Moon in Gemini). Dramatic performance (Leo) supports an emotional need for diversification (Gemini) and the need to communicate fresh ideas and concepts. His solar energy is naturally directed into ninth house themes of expansion such as publishing, religion, internationalism and higher education. He's at home on the big stage inspiring big crowds. Let's take a look at Obama's transits for the coming months. Transiting Pluto (power and transformation) in his 2nd house (values and resources) is opposing natal Venus in the 8th house of shared resources, suggesting that his values, his marriage, and other important relationships will be intensified, tested, and transformed over this period of almost two years. There is an obsessive quality to all Pluto transits and when contacting Venus it surely refers at least in part to his marriage especially since natal Venus is in the sexually intimate 8th house and rules his 7th house of marriage. I think the first real taste of this transit for him will occur with Pluto's station in early April. If there are any problems in his marriage or other intimate relationships that are hidden or that he would like to keep hidden they will be brought to light and examined over this long transit. That's what Pluto does!! Transiting Uranus will oppose his natal Mars starting this summer. This should be an intense period for Obama full of nervous energy and sudden happenings. July looks particularly intense for him because the last pass of transiting Saturn over his natal Pluto (suggesting loss for renewal in 10th house matters) coincides exactly with this stressful Uranus-Mars transit. July has the potential to be a volatile and frustrating month for Obama. My main purpose here is to discuss and point out the astrology of the candidates and not to try to predict the winner, but in light of the fact that Hillary has survived Super Tuesday: it looks like it's going to be a dog fight and astrology can help us to understand what each candidate is going through. I will admit it is fun to try to predict things like this. The transiting Sun will also be in Obama's 10th house (public visibility) applying conjunction to his natal Pluto (the ascendant ruler) on August 28th. Themes for Sun-Pluto days are power (or power struggles), intensity, obsession, transformation and regeneration (death and rebirth) and since this transit will occur in Obama's public 10th house we can assume this day will be spent in the public eye. Looks like both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will both play an important role at the convention. Obama has his Jupiter Return (trine his Moon) in early January and then on Inauguration day January 20, 2009 the transiting Sun is exactly conjunct his natal Jupiter, suggesting a day of optimism and expansion for sure. These are auspicious transits indeed, but hardly strong enough by themselves to clearly indicate him being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States (or Vice President). He has to get to get the nomination first; if that happens then we can seriously start to consider these transits. I mentioned in the last article that Hillary has an ego deflating and deceptive Neptune transit to contend with in November and then on Election Day itself a very difficult and frustrating Mars transit over her Ascendant-Mercury square her natal Saturn. Election Day from a distance looks like a tough battle for her. If we look ahead to Inauguration day, Hillary has transiting Jupiter square her Sun along with solar arc Jupiter square her Sun (a double whammy) indicating a time of optimism and success or taken to the extreme pomposity and excess. It's tricky because all three of the candidates have some positive Jupiter stuff (rewards) happening between Election Day and Inauguration Day so we have to weigh everything very carefully. I'll just say this for now the picture being painted here does have Hillary as a central figure during the convention and it also has her in the thick of the fight in November. That's just my interpretation of it though; time will fill in the blanks. |
